Work Boots

Three Things To Consider When Shopping For Work Boots

Selecting a suitable work boot is critical to success in jobs that require specialized footwear. There’s more than comfort and fashion at stake here. This is also about performance and safety. Here we’ll share a few things to keep in mind as you shop for the ideal pair of work boots.

First, make sure the boot fits absolutely perfectly. You’ll be wearing these boots for a long time, putting in a lot of hours on your feet. While nearly ever model of shoe comes in the same sizes, not every shoe fits every foot. Spend some time trying on different styles because it’s better to get it right than to buy the wrong boot and suffer through your job each day. Also take the time to break your new boots in properly. This may take one to two weeks, gradually increasing the time you wear them each day until your new boots become moulded to your perfect fit.

Second, before you buy make certain the work boot has the safety features you require. Not all industrial boots are made alike and sport different safety features for different jobs. Several factors to consider are sole composition, hard-toe material (steel, composite, etc), heat resistance, and many others. Not only are you flushing money down the toilet by being careless in this area, you’re risking life and limb.

Finally, to some extent, colour and style do matter. Make sure the work boot is appropriate for your working conditions and employer’s dress code.
